4. Why does my browser open a separate window when I click on an image or hyperlink?
This was done in the Link section to give you the ability to "check out" a link and still return to our link page to check out another link which may interest you.
To close these windows, simply use the X in the top right hand corner of your browser.

5. Why can't I utilize my back button after I click a hyperlink?
If you use Netscape as your browser you may encounter problems when using your BACK button after clicking on hyperlinks. This is a browser issue. When using Netscape you need to hit the BACK button and then RELOAD in order for the page to reappear. Otherwise you will receive a blank screen. We recommend Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher as the best way to view our web site.

6. I am unable to login. What am I doing wrong?
In order to login you must first have registered with nbn-jobs.com by entering your career profile. If you have already registered with nbn-jobs.com you received an email with your login information, which includes your email address and password. If you have forgotten your password simply click on "I Forgot My Password" on the Job Seekers page and we will email you your login information again. If you are using the correct password and email you may have a problem because of "cookies" with your Internet browser. Please make sure "cookies" are enabled on your browser. See questions #8-9 for further explanation.

7. I can login but I am unable to use the Job Seekers Resource Menu. Why does this happen?
In order to use the Job Seekers Resource menu you must have the "cookies" enabled on your Internet browser. Our security system places a cookie on your computer that identifies you for the login and Job Seeker Resource menu. If "cookies" are disabled you may not be able to log-in or use the hyperlinks on the Job Seekers Resource menu. Please see question #8 for further explanation on cookies.

8. Why must my browser's "cookies" and "javascript" be enabled in order to use the Job Seeker Resources?
Our security system is set up to place a "cookie" on your computer that identifies you, matches you with the information you supplied in your career profile and allows you access to the Job Seekers Resource area. This security feature further insures that only you have permission to view/edit/delete your career profile and personal job searches. Please see question #8 for different ways to set "cookies" on your Internet browser.

Javascript is used in our pull down menus on our registration form. If you do not have javascript enabled on your internet browser you will not see all the pull down menu selections on some of the required fields on the registration form. This will result in an error message when you try to submit the registration form. You will not be able to complete the registration process.

9. Tell me more about cookies. How do I set up my Internet browser to use "cookies"?
Some Web sites store information in a small text file, called a "cookie," on your hard disk. Cookies contain information about you and your preferences. For example, your career profile and personal job search criteria.

Only the information that you provide, or the choices you make while visiting a Web site, can be stored in a cookie. For example, the site cannot determine your e-mail name unless you choose to type it. Allowing a Web site to create a cookie does not give that or any other site access to the rest of your computer, and only the site that created the cookie can read it. In order to use the "nbn-jobs.com" web site you must have cookies enabled.

With Internet Explorer 5.0 you can specify that you be prompted before a site puts a cookie on your hard disk, so you can choose to allow or disallow the cookie. On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, choose Internet Options. Click the Security tab (choose Internet and Custom Level) and scroll down Security Settings to "Cookies". Choose either "Enable" or "Prompt" depending upon your preference.

With Netscape 6.2 from the Edit menu, choose Preferences. Click the Privacy & Security category and select Cookies. Choose either "Enable all cookies". If you want to be notified when Communicator accepts a cookie, check "Warn me before storing a cookie."

Please see the Help Section of your particular browser for further information on cookies and how to set them up.

With Netscape 6.2 from the Edit menu, choose Preferences. Click the Advanced category and choose "Enable Java" and "Enable Javascript for Navigator".

Please see the Help Section of your particular browser for further information on Javascript.

You must register your confidential career profile before you begin to search jobs. There is a section in the profile that asks for you to copy and paste your resume into a large text box. This will highlight all of the text in your resume. Then choose "Copy" from the Edit pull down. This will "copy" all the text that was highlighted. Go back to the on-line registration form and click your mouse in the "Resume" box. Choose "Paste" from the Edit pull down. This should copy and paste your resume into the text box.
