Job 6434: Senior Tax Accountant

Location: TX-Houston  
Southwest (AZ, AR, NM, OK & TX)
Salary Range: NA
Bonus & Incentives: Bonus available.
Position Responsibilities: In this position, you will be responsible for reviewing and preparing returns, planning and monitoring tax assignments, and handling other associated duties including tax provision preparation, tax data gathering, preparation and analysis, monitoring state law changes, responding to inquiries by the businesses and state taxing authorities, and assisting in the annual planning and budget process. You will perform team lead responsibilities in a team of 10 to 15 people. Key accountabilities include: - Leading and providing technical assistance to other staff preparing returns for Client entities doing business in the United Sates - Reviewing and preparing state and local income and franchise tax returns for Client entities doing business in the United Sates with extensive use of tax return preparation software - Coordinating and monitoring tax provision preparation and computation - Monitoring states legislation changes and impact to Client - Coordinating, monitoring, reviewing, and responding to correspondence from state taxing authorities - Coordinating data gathering with clients and review tax data - Mentoring and coaching team members - Managing and assisting in special projects
Education and Certifications/Licenses: Bachelors, CPA preferred
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and approximately 7 or more years experience in state income/franchise tax compliance. CPA is preferred. Master of Taxation degree is desirable. You must possess a good knowledge of tax preparation software (CorpTax) and all Microsoft office products. Additional requirements include: - Strong organization and analytical skills - Strong attention to business controls, ability to identify control weaknesses and to implement process improvements - Ability to identify and resolve issues with minimal guidance - Ability to work quickly and accurately with strong attention to turn-around time and deadlines - Adaptability to change, especially to the dynamics of the business sectors - Ability to work in a team environment with strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills -Supervisory experience required In addition to the tasks outlined in this job description, you may be assigned other responsibilities as needed.
