| Position Responsibilities: |
As a key member of a $3.7 billion Trust & Investment Department, the Business Development Officer will grow a portfolio of new accounts focused on employee benefit trusts. Through the execution of a proactive new business campaign utilizing their existing referral network, the incumbent will drive revenue and provide superior advice and service to emerging and established small & middle market businesses North of Chicago.
The person will be based within the northern suburban market and reports to the Trust Sales Manager. Excellent potential for upward mobility.
Specific job functions include:
1. Develop and execute aggressive strategies to target prospective markets while continuing to cultivate a consistently productive external referral base.
2. Meet with prospective clients to identify needs and provide client centered advice that incorporates the benefits of firm’s services and helps to enhance and build lasting relationships.
3. Achieve sales goals and performance standards, and serve as primary account officer for newly booked business.
4. Monitor account activity and portfolio mix to ensure that established investment guidelines are adhered to consistently.
5. Share sales expertise at internal meetings to assist colleagues with new business development efforts.
6. Maintain controls to ensure compliance with regulations and bank policies.
7. Periodically reviews investment performance with clients.

| Education and Certifications/Licenses: |
Bachelors, Prefer CRSM, CPC, CFP or CEBS. |
| Mandatory Minimum Qualifications: |
Position minimally requires person with a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, proven sales skills within the financial services industry, in-depth knowledge of all statutory and regulatory requirements governing Defined Contribution products and related investment knowledge, basic knowledge of the Defined Benefit plan environment, exceptional customer service experience, and effective verbal and written communication skills. |
| Preferred Qualifications: |
Candidate should have proven ability to make 30+ sales calls per month and produce $200,000+ in sales revenue within, primarily through own referral network.

| Additional Comments: |
Individual must possess demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills and a thorough knowledge of ERISA and investments, as well as proficiency in the use of personal computers and automated accounting systems. Certified Retirement Services Professional (CRSM), Certified Pension Consultant (CPC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) certification preferred. |
