Job 8240: Assistant Controller

Location: IL-Chicago  
Lower Midwest (IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, MO, NE & OH)
Salary Range: 75,000-90,000
Bonus & Incentives: 10% target bonus
Position Responsibilities: The assistant controller will be an integral part of the accounting team reporting to the Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. The position will also work closely with the company’s operations and asset management staff. The assistant controller will assist in all areas of the company’s accounting functions, including the following: • Preparing periodic financial statements for the consolidated company and its stand-alone subsidiaries • Analyzing monthly financial results • Maintaining and reviewing general ledger activity, reconciling general ledger accounts to subsidiary ledgers • Providing information and support for the company’s independent auditors • Preparing detailed operating procedures and related manuals documenting the procedures and controls for financial operations • Resource and implement “ad-hoc” and special client/business driven projects as directed by the Director of Finance and firm management
Education and Certifications/Licenses: Bachelors, CPA
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in accounting with 3-5 years relevant experience required • Knowledge of PC accounting systems and all Microsoft Office products is essential • Prior financial institutions experience with a strong background in loan and investment accounting. Experience in accounting with investment vehicles such as Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLO’s) is also preferred. • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills • Ability to drive projects to completion independently, while also functioning in a team environment

Additional Comments: Client company provides financing to middle market companies at multiple levels of the capital structure. The firm specializes in providing senior debt, mezzanine and one-stop debt financings, preferred stock and minority equity co-investments for middle market companies typically controlled by a private equity sponsor. Financing is generally used to support buyouts, refinancing/recapitalizations, add-on acquisitions and other capital requirements. The firm currently manages over $2.5 billion in assets.
