| Position Responsibilities: |
The incumbent will have oversight of managers, supervisors, and fund accountants responsible for investment management accounting, financial reporting and administration services for hedge funds and other alternative investments entities structured as limited partnerships, trusts and/or separately managed accounts. In addition to the aforementioned structures, s/he will be responsible for certain complex investment structures, including, but not limited to, structures utilizing synthetic portfolios and synthetic leverage.
She/He will coordinate the verification of each fund’s financial statements for internal consistency, adherence to the funds governing documents, reasonableness, and consistency with applicable accounting principles, including, where applicable, accounting principles generally accepted in the United States as defined by the Financial Accounting Standards Boards (¿GAAP¿). S/He will coordinate the establishment of procedures necessary to ensure that, where appropriate, each fund or account adheres to GAAP, the Internal Revenue Code, and other relevant regulations promulgated by agencies and regulatory bodies in the United States and certain offshore locales (e.g., Cayman Islands). In addition to the aforementioned accountings responsibility, s/he will have responsibility for accounting for certain complex derivatives and other synthetic securities in the context of an investment company.
S/He will handle personnel and staffing concerns for the department and interact with the client regarding new support requirements and the resolution of complex issues. S/He will have direct interaction with both the internal/external auditors of the partnerships, the clients, and of the bank. S/He will assist clients and their auditors of the partnerships, the interpretation of accounting reports form alternative investments accounting systems and, where appropriate, certain bank systems, to ensure that all accounts adhere to bank’s policies and procedures.
The qualified candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree (with a concentration in Accounting or Finance preferred) and a CPA. S/He must have extensive knowledge of alternative investments and accounting theories and practices related thereto. S/He will have extensive use of PC spreadsheets and on-line systems. S/He must possess strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work independently and under pressure while adhering to strict deadlines. S/He must have the ability to interact with various levels of management and demonstrate superior human resources and leadership skills. S/he must have expertise in planning and organizing priorities. Ten to fifteen years of relevant securities experience is required.
