Location: CA-San Francisco

Salary Range: Competitive
Bonus & Incentives: 15% target bonus
Position Responsibilities: Major commercial bank headquartered in downtown San Francisco is seeking an Operational Accounting Manager for a key position within the Corporate Controller’s Group. Position reports to the General Accounting Manager and provides backup as needed in general accounting as well as the areas of benefits accounting, centralized accounting, and subsidiary accounting. Position will also provide assistance in researching, developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Review key GL transactions, schedules and outgoing wires on a daily basis • Oversee preparation of monthly certification reports • Prepare FDIC assessments and OCC payments • Prepare month-end and quarter-end variance analysis reports • Review quarterly accrual validations • Perform annual escheatment review ADDITIONAL TASKS • Participate in month-end closing process • Research and document monthly and quarterly variances as assigned • Projects related to Mergers and Acquisitions • Document desktop procedures and transaction flows as required • Staff performance evaluations • Prepare in-depth analysis of financial data due to regulatory/policy changes • Independently research and analyze regulatory pronouncements and other accounting documents. Present analysis and recommendations to management. • Participate in the development and implementation of accounting changes • Maintain knowledge of ongoing external trends in the financial area; review and analyze financial publication and regulatory requirements • Work directly with divisional managers in major financial projects. Establish close working relations with divisional managers. • Provide on-going advice on accounting issues to all levels and areas of the Bank • Respond to internal/external inquiries regarding financial data reported or filed • Perform other projects or duties as assigned
Education and Certifications/Licenses: Bachelors, CPA Preferred
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications: • BA/BS degree in accounting with CPA license a strong plus • 10+ years of experience, including 4+ years in banking and 2+ years of management experience • Strong knowledge of the banking industry • Ability to work in a team environment and to work cross-functionally with other departments • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
