Job 8606: Director of Revenue Recognition

Location: CA-San Francisco   Peninsula
West Coast (CA, OR, WA, AK & HI)
Salary Range: Competitive
Bonus & Incentives: 15% bonus
Position Responsibilities: International corporation headquartered on the Peninsula is seeking a Director of Revenue Recognition, with responsibility for the application of US GAAP to business activities in the area of revenue recognition. This is an individual contributor role that requires strong technical accounting and research skills, the ability to evaluate new information and develop policies, and the ability to present information and train others. Position requires an active CPA license and public accounting as well as corporate experience. RESPONSIBILITIES • Apply U.S. GAAP to business activities and document analysis and conclusions primarily in the area of revenue recognition (including executive compensation contracts, stock options, benefits and terminations), Client Incentives and Marketing/Sponsorships • Apply the following accounting literature: SAB 104, EITF 00-21 and EITF 01-9 • Develop and maintain company’s global accounting policies manual in accordance with GAAP and SEC standards. Incorporate the SOX control standards within the Policy function. • Provide training to regional accounting and finance teams on policies and new accounting standards • Evaluate impact and develop implementation plan of new accounting standards and prepare implementation package for auditors • Draft the company’s significant accounting policies disclosure for the quarterly/ annual disclosures • Work with client incentive team to evaluate new customer contracts and advise on accounting treatments
Education and Certifications/Licenses: Bachelors, CPA required
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications: • CPA (active status) • 3+ years experience in Big Four public accounting and 3+ years of corporate experience (mid to large size public company) • Strong technical accounting skills and experience in the implementation and handling of complex US GAAP accounting matters as well as familiarly with accounting research tools • Experience in the preparation of SEC financial statement and footnotes for a public company • Strong communication skills, especially in developing position papers and presenting to auditors and management • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with a focus on customers • Well developed problem solving skills • Ability to mange to a successful resolution of issues and to manage multiple complex assignments simultaneously • Self-starter, flexible and change oriented
