Job 8739: Underwriter

Location: CA-Los Angeles   Los Angeles area
West Coast (CA, OR, WA, AK & HI)
Salary Range: 80,000 - 100,000
Bonus & Incentives: 35% Target bonus
Position Responsibilities: The candidate will be assigned primary responsibility for a transaction once due diligence deposit is received until it closes to include: 1) completing a comprehensive credit write-up 2) presentation to credit committee and 3) participating in the loan closing process, as applicable. This position reports directly to the Underwriting Manager. Completion of comprehensive credit write-up: Analyze the creditworthiness of prospective clients by 1) coordinating and analyzing all third party due diligence including audits and appraisals, 2) meet and interview the prospective client’s management team, 3) analyze and underwrite the prospect’s historical and projected financial statements and cash flows (including industry specific sensitivity analysis) and 4) underwrite prospect’s enterprise valued per SF loan advance guide lines (including contemplation of comparables for both fair-market and distressed valuations). Facilitation of the land closing process: Assist Specialty Finance Loan Closer to negotiate with prospect’s senior management in structuring and documentation including the identification of transactional/structural risks for bank and propose situation appropriate structuring alternatives which best protect banks interest. Present Key Deal modifications to Credit Committee members, as applicable. Professionally manage the prospective relationship and provide regular updates of transaction status to relevant parties. Review all pertinent documentation to ensure the transaction approved by credit committee is appropriately documented and critical deviations have been approved prior to execution of loan documents.
Education and Certifications/Licenses: Bachelors
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications: Experience in Underwriting transactions is preferred as well as an understanding of the middle-market M & A marketplace, especially in healthcare, media and hospitality. Proven analytical skills, negotiating skills, solid organizational skills and excellent interpersonal skills are critical. Candidate should be oriented toward a deal driven environment and capable of managing multiple transactions simultaneously under tight time pressure.
