We have been retained by a Fortune 300 diversified financial services organization. This firm offers financial, retirement and estate planning services and a variety of financial and investment products in five distinctive business areas - insurance and annuities, individual and group retirement plans, group benefits, mutual funds and investment management. They are seeking a talented and experienced professional to direct the activities of their office in the Kansas City metro area as the Managing Principal of the office. Candidates from outside the Kansas City area will be considered, provided that they have prior experience in the Kansas City market and are willing to relocate.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Managing Principal (MP) will be responsible for attracting, motivating, and retaining top talent in order to serve the firm’s clients and grow the business, and also responsible for providing on-the-ground direction of the firm’s Kansas City field office. Considerable importance will be placed on leadership, recruiting, and team building. The position will report directly to a regional Managing Director (MD) who will be responsible for coaching, developing and evaluating the MP.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruiting – 45%
· Increase Horizontal Planner Growth through the recruiting of quality Planners. Ensure and communicate a strong value proposition to those Planners. Achieve recruiting goals as established for the market.
Sales Growth – 25%
· Increase Vertical Planner Growth through the retention of quality planners.
· Coach, develop and provide training to Planners by leveraging the company’s national and local resources.
· Provide market access and marketing initiatives to planners. Work with planners to access firm resources to help practices grow including joint work where appropriate.
Operational Effectiveness – 10%
· Assist MD in developing and meeting financial objectives and planner metrics for performance
· Partner with functional support management (IT, Operations, Finance, etc.) to identify, escalate and resolve systemic operational issues related to functional support
· Support and manage within established budget.
General Management/Leadership – 10%
· Serve as most senior resource in the firm’s field offices to help identify and resolve employee relations and operational issues on a daily basis where most efficient and build a positive workplace
· Champion programs initiatives undertaken by the firm —carry positive messages and create a compelling vision for the company’s future that is grounded in our Creed and Shared Values

| Mandatory Minimum Qualifications: |
TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Series 7, 24, 66 and Life and Health. Candidates not currently holding the Series 7, 24, or 66 licenses must be willing to obtain those licenses within a reasonable agree-upon time frame as a condition of employment.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with professionalism and discretion.
· At least 3 years of successful branch/sales management experience in the financial services industry.
· Recruiting and Staff Development: Proven experience attracting, developing and retaining an “A “ player workforce and creating a positive atmosphere conducive to productivity.
· Financial Acumen: Must have an in-depth knowledge of the insurance business and a solid understanding of the broader financial services field. Ability to prioritize business activities that contribute to top-line growth.
· Ability to clearly articulate the company’s value proposition to potential planners.
· Relationship Skills—Builds collaborative relationships and exhibits influence skills.
· Solid working knowledge of compliance.
· Evidences commitment, ownership and conviction regarding what he/she undertakes.
